DIVISIONS AND GROUPS  - We have begun the process of putting teams in Divisions and Groups and will continue to fine tune the process for the next several days.  Teams are encouraged to check the information posted on the entries page and provide comments by email.    It is early in the new season and the challenge of placing teams in Divisions for the best parity is bigger and more difficult now than it will be once teams have some games under their belt.   We will take the information we get and make decisions based our interpretation.  Not everyone will agree with every decision, but we will give it our best shot.

TOURNAMENT T-SHIRTS  - We have great souvenir T-shirts again this year and teams can save a lot of money by Pre-Ordering

This is a special message to all U6/7/8 teams that qualified for the 2010 Challenge 3v3 National Championships.

In the past, u6/7/8 ages have each had only 1 Division in our tournaments.   This is primarily because there is generally no real Competitive  soccer played in those ages.   This works very well in our qualifying events, but when we come to Nationals, there can be a wide range in skill level between the "serious" teams and those who less committed to play at a high level at that age.

Starting with the 2010 National Championship, and only for Nationals, we have the opportunity for the equivalent of 2 levels of play in each of the u6/7/8 ages.

Where there  are more than 12 entries in a u6/7/8 Boys or Girls Division at Nationals, the top 8 teams after pool play will  advance to a Championship Bracket leading toward Semi Finals and a 3rd Place Match and a Final.   The remaining teams will advance to a Recreational Division Bracket which will lead to Rec Semi Finals and a 3rd place match and Final.

Regards,

The Challenge Sports Team

All of us at Challenge Sports are excited about another huge Spring Challenge.   The Palm Bay Youth Soccer Association and nearby clubs in South Brevard are preparing for a great weekend of soccer.

Entries will be posted on our web site on Friday April 10.  Teams are encouraged to check the list of entries to make sure that they are listed in the correct age and gender.   We will begin separating teams into Divisions and Groups during the week of April 12 and continue until schedules are posted.  Teams are encouraged to provide updated information about their level of play ot assist us in the process of  putting them in Divisions and groups.

We will be accepting late entries through the middle of April in age groups where there is room.

We know that all teams are anxious to know exactly which site their games will be played.  we are working now to match the entries with available fields at each of the sites.  We will post information on our web site as soon as we can make the determination of where each age group is playing.

As usual, with so many teams coming into the South Brevard area, hotel rooms will become scarce soon.  Some hotels are already full, so  if you have not already made hotel plans, it would be wise to do so right away.

Age Group Facilitators  -  Some age groups like the youngest girls ages,  Adult Coed, and Adult Women have fewer teams than many others, and it can be hard for teams to find tournaments where they can play without being combined with other ages.  We have had some folks volunteer to help coordinate a couple of those age groups to help teams find others to play against and to coordinate play so they can meet at certain tournaments.

Challenge Sports Scholarships  Each year Florida Challenge Sports Events  awards two college scholarships to high school seniors.  Awards in the amount of $400 are made to two high school students who demonstrate a high level of  cooperation, sportsmanship and fairness in athletic competition, academics, and other aspects of their lives.

Any student who has participated in a Challenge Soccer Tournament either as a player, referee or volunteer is eligible to apply.  Print a scholarship application by clicking on the link above.  Scholarship entry deadline was May 10.  the 2008 Winners will be announced in June.  For more information, click here
